So what’s behind the “mama elefant” name? (yes, i couldn’t resist the visual pun here:)

Here are my top ten reasons for naming this site mama elefant:
1. It’s like elegant, but not. Kinda like me. And that’s ok.
2. Ok, mamaelephant.com is already taken. As was elephantmama.com
3. For real, I like that it’s misspelled. It’s beautiful like seeing life through my kids’ eyes. It’s how they would first think to spell elephant: “elefant”
4. I like battling auto-correct. Every. Single. Time.
5. Elephants are capable of self-awareness. The only published research on this is about an elephant named Happy. How sweet is that?
6. Mother elephants are amazing caregivers – ancient, nurturing, and bonded with their kids for life, even though their sons boldly forge their own unique lives. I didn’t know elephant parenting was a thing until after choosing the blog name, but I definitely overlap with this style, so that’s cool.
7. Okay, I’ve been immersed in learning about elephants thanks to my dear two older sons and their FIRST LEGO League teammate. They just came up with a cool design for an elephant headset that reads its brain activity – which the researcher who showed that Happy the elephant was self-aware just said was “really cool” in today’s Skype interview. Rock on kiddos!
8. It’s cute. Fun. Whimsical. Like much of life with kids.
9. I don’t want to take this blog or myself too seriously, cause I’m too busy in the trenches and best enjoy it when letting go.
10. I’m tired of thinking of names for this blog. It’s the first one that really made me smile. Hope you mamas reading this also find it fun, nurturing, and powerful. Like all us mamas. Ok, kids – and ancient. That too. 😉
